Why 300km, Not 100?
Australian postcodes cover far more ground on average than US ZIP codes or UK postcodes - one postcode can span a single suburb or an entire outback region. A 300km cap keeps results browsable around Australia's dense capital cities while giving regional and remote postcodes a realistic chance of returning a useful list. Even at the maximum radius, a handful of very remote postcodes (island territories, the deep outback) may still return no other postcodes at all - that's an accurate reflection of how sparse those areas are, not a fault in the tool. The Nearest Postcodes tool always returns a result regardless of distance, so it's the better fit for those locations.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is distance measured?
Distances are straight-line ("as the crow flies") measurements between postcode centroids, in kilometres. Actual driving distance will be longer due to road layouts.
What's the maximum radius?
You can search up to a 300km radius. Australian postcodes cover much larger areas on average than US ZIP codes or UK postcodes, so this cap is wider than our US tool's - but remote postcodes can still return zero results even at the maximum, since some cover thousands of square kilometres with no near neighbour. Try the Nearest Postcodes tool instead if you always want a result regardless of distance.
Is my data stored?
No. All processing happens in your browser. We don't track your searches or store any data. When you share a link, the postcode and radius are simply included in the URL.
